Learn Music Production: Beginner Course in London

We recommend Ableton Live for most electronic music producers because of its fast, creative workflow for looping and sampling.

However, Logic Pro is fantastic if you prefer a traditional studio layout or focus on songwriting.

If you have a Windows laptop or a Mac, you can run Ableton Live without problem.

If you choose the Logic Pro pathway, you will need a Mac, as Logic is Apple-exclusive.

We teach you how to set up your specific computer for optimal audio performance in the first lesson.

The course runs for 12 weeks, with one 3-hour live lesson per week. Unlike massive university lectures, we keep our groups small with a maximum of 10 students. This ensures that you receive personalised feedback from your tutor and have ample time to ask questions during the session, as well as a pleasant and friendly interaction with your classmates.

Not at all. This course is designed specifically for complete beginners with little or no prior experience.

You do not need to read sheet music or play an instrument. We teach you the essential electronic music theory you need, like writing chords, melodies, and basslines, using the tools inside the software.

The course is fully optimised to run Online via Zoom, guaranteeing a seamless experience regardless of your location. However, we offer two flexible ways for London-based students to access our pro studios at Qube Elephant & Castle.

Option 1: The Full Studio Upgrade (£295) If you want the full experience, you can "pledge" to upgrade to in-person classes for the entire 3-month course.

• The Cost: A flat fee of £295 (in addition to your tuition).

• How it works: You tick the "Studio Interest" box when you apply. You do not pay the upgrade fee yet.

• The Trigger: Two weeks before the start date, if your cohort has at least 3 students interested, we "unlock" the studio and send you the payment link. If the group is too small, the course runs online, and you pay nothing extra. Zero risk.

Option 2: The "Studio Takeover" Drop-In (£40/session) If the full studio cohort doesn't form, or if you just want to meet up occasionally, you aren't locked out! Once the course starts, your group can arrange ad-hoc in-person sessions for specific topics (like Mixing or Jamming).

• The Cost: £40 per student, per session.

• The Trigger: Simply agree on a date with 2 other classmates (min. 3 total), and we will book the room for you.

Crucially, the learning results are identical. Whether you are in the studio or at home, everyone connects to the same high-resolution audio stream and screen share. This ensures the whole class interacts in real-time, so you never miss a beat regardless of your location.

To begin, you only need your computer and a pair of headphones. You do not need expensive studio monitors, MIDI keyboards, or an audio interface to start. We show you how to produce professional-sounding tracks using just your laptop and your preferred DAW, allowing you to build your skills before investing in expensive gear.

No. If you aren't ready to buy the full licence yet, you can use the free trial versions of Ableton Live (30 days) or Logic Pro (90 days) during the course. This allows you to learn the tools and ensure it's the right fit for you before committing to the purchase.

Yes. The goal of the Beginner Production Course is to take you from a blank screen to a finished original track. By Week 12, you will have composed, arranged, and mixed your first production. Once you have mastered the basics here, you can progress to our Advanced Production Course to refine your sound and release on our label, Fresh Beats Records.
