Richard File is a composer, producer and DJ with over three decades of experience working across records, film, television and live performance.
As a core member of UNKLE alongside James Lavelle, he co-wrote and produced seminal albums including Never, Never, Land and War Stories, while also maintaining a long-standing presence in electronic music as a DJ and collaborator.
His work spans original scores, sync and commercial composition, including Jonathan Glazer’s Sexy Beast, the theme for the AMC/Netflix adaptation of The Killing, and campaigns for global brands such as Nike, Coca-Cola and Mercedes.
His production and remix credits include artists such as Brian Eno, DJ Shadow, Blur, Depeche Mode and Queens of the Stone Age.
Richard’s mentoring is focused on bridging creative ideas with professional outcomes.
Sessions are tailored to the individual and can cover production, composition, finishing tracks, artistic direction, and navigating the realities of the music industry.
His approach is practical, honest and goal-oriented, supporting artists in developing work that is both creatively strong and release-ready.
